The content area will be based on tools of composition for photography. The goal for this content area is for photographers who want to improve their composition and analyze a scene to apply the selected tools of composition to their photography. It will give them a a background in how to make their photos more effective. The target population for this content area will be 16 and over with a desire to work on their composition skills with photography.

As Alli said, we sort of formed our group based on the knowledge that we will be working together on the topic of rules of composition. Since the rules of composition aren't really rules but are more like guidelines or tools photographers can use in the composition of a photograph, we are going to call our topic tools of composition. Our audience will basically be anyone who has a working knowledge of how to take pictures. In order to not have to simplify the content too much, we want to target individuals with at least a high school level education.

With three group members interested and rather skilled in photography, it made the content choice an easy decision (I'm the novice of the group!). Digital cameras are wonderful, because it allows photographs to view the photos immediately after taking the picture, however often times novice photographers don't think about the composition of the photo before they take the shot. Beginning photographers, starting with a high school level education, will be guided through tools of composition to improve their photos.

As you can see, we all agree on our content area to focus our instructional content! Photography is something that you can certainly learn by doing, but there is a lot of information to be learned even when you don't have a camera in your hands. By creating material to help beginning photographers see how the composition of their photographs greatly improves their images, we're showing them to how be better photographers.
